Weet-Bix boost for the vulnerable
People struggling to put food on the table are being supported by an initiative run by an Adventist church in Sydney.
During March, Wahroonga Adventist church ran a project where members of the congregation were encouraged to contribute Weet-Bix and milk for clients of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Blacktown.
Organiser Marilyn Todd said they exceeded their goal of collecting 150 boxes of Weet-Bix and 150 cartons of milk. In total, 172 boxes of Weet-Bix and 176 cartons of milk were received and donated to ADRA.
“Even though the clients of ADRA Blacktown are on the poverty line, they still need to be treated with dignity,” Ms Todd said.
The church assisted ADRA Blacktown last year with the donation and assembly of pamper packs, including shampoo, toothbrushes and other hygiene and care products, which were greatly appreciated.
ADRA Blacktown has been supporting the community for over two decades, aiding individuals facing significant challenges in the western regions of Sydney. They provide counselling programs, food packages, crisis relief, emergency housing and other programs tailored to the needs of the residents.
