A free community car wash was one of the activities.
Students unite to serve their community
Avondale University students recently took part in Serve Day, coming together to make a positive impact across the local community through a range of projects, including school visits, community car washes and yard clean-up initiatives.
The day began with a shared breakfast and worship program, providing an opportunity for students to commit the day to God before heading out to their respective service locations. Teams then spent the morning serving in a variety of settings, working alongside and supporting members of the local community.
The response from those served was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the practical support provided. Whether through helping with community projects, assisting local schools or lending a hand through yard clean-ups, students were encouraged by the warm reception they received and the meaningful connections formed throughout the day.
Serve Day also left a lasting impact on those who volunteered. One of the students, Desire Sibanda, said the highlight was seeing students unite with a shared purpose, eager to serve and make a difference. Equally impactful were the conversations and interactions throughout the day, as students had the opportunity to hear people’s stories and witness firsthand the positive difference that simple acts of kindness can make.
