Pathfinders on a mission to help others.
Pathfinders share hope with prisoners
Youth from Fifteen Mile Seventh-day Adventist Church in Papua New Guinea joined thousands of young people around the globe in celebrating World Pathfinder Day on September 21, under the theme “Pathfinders on Purpose”.
More than 45 Pathfinders and young people took part in community service, beginning with a cleanup at the Fifteen Mile Police Station before visiting 10 young prisoners.
The group shared food, sang, prayed and encouraged the inmates with Bible readings, reminding them that God’s love and forgiveness are always available despite past mistakes. They also extended an invitation, assuring the prisoners that once released they are welcome to attend church and find fellowship in a supportive community.
Pathfinders is a worldwide, activity-based program of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, especially designed for 10-15 year-olds. It helps young people build self-worth in a safe and caring environment, develop leadership and teamwork, gain practical skills in the outdoors, arts and crafts, and discover the joy of helping others through community service.
