Tea-riffic charity event
Wahroonga Adventist School (Sydney, NSW) has served up a special breakfast event, raising $1200 for Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
The Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that raises essential funds to support those affected by cancer. It encourages people to host an event with friends, family, colleagues or community members.
The school’s Big Breakfast fundraiser was open to all students from Prep to Year 12, along with their family members who were encouraged to participate and enjoy the morning to support the cause.
Led by the student representative council, which is open to students from years 3 to 12, the students and teachers provided an array of breakfast options. Chocolate and plain croissants, a variety of freshly baked muffins, pancakes with sprinkles, maple syrup and chocolate sauce, hot chocolates with marshmallows, and tea were some of the treats available.
“During the Big Breakfast many parents commented on the sense of community and how the support of the whole child was very apparent in the school,” said primary school student representative council coordinator Georgia Ah-You. “The fact that staff and students were working so harmoniously and joyfully alongside each other in serving parents was noted.”
Exceeding their initial goal by $200, the money raised by the school will go towards cancer research, support for patients and prevention campaigns.
This was Wahroonga Adventist School’s second year of running the event as a Big Breakfast fundraiser.
